The staff were always friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, opposite the bus station and a few steps from the historic dockyard. Despite its location, it was very quiet. We come from a rural area, but we found it very restful and easy to sleep. The room was comfortable, and the bed was enormous. The private parking was such a bonus. There are hardly any vehicles in it during the week, but quite busy at the weekend. Spaces aren't very long, so they're a bit of a tight squeeze in a big van at weekends. There's ample public parking nearby. There's an onsite restaurant, but we only used it for breakfast. There's a vast selection of eating places nearby. I liked that there was a small table and stools in the room so you could eat in there if you wanted to. The room was clean. The bathroom was huge and clean. So much history to see on the doorstep. The restaurant is gorgeous, the nicest part of the hotel. The breakfast was good.

Loved it. It ticked all the boxes. Loved the hotel position, accommodation and staff. Beds comfortable, big. Carpets nice to walk on, clean. Furniture dated very serviceable, fits in with the building. Bathroom enjoyed good shower. The fan worked well extracting the steam. We had a wonderful view. The warrior The hard hub for busses, ferry to Gosport, LoW train station. Close to Brittany Ferries etc Gunwharf quays shopping The Naval base and museums. Taxi stands. Bus station. Breakfasts really nice cooked to order. The restaurant really nice clean tidy attentive staff. Loved the chairs they were heavy and solid. Also coffee tea cereals fruit drinks fruits toast etc. Free car parking. (we were able to park the car and use all the transport options. All staff very helpful and assisted whenever, we saw them very friendly.

The hotel location is excellent. It is across the road from the port, ferries, train, and Gunwharf Quay outlet mall with its activities, shops and restaurants. It is safe and secure with a private car park which is locked at night. The staff are very willing to please and nothing is too much trouble. I feel lucky to have read the reviews and trusted that this hotel would be a good choice for my visit. The hotel is not modern yet my room was newly refurbished, spacious, quiet and comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and the shower was huge. Towels are large and bedding is clean.

Breakfast was very good as was our evening meal in The Captain's Table restaurant at the hotel. There was free parking in a small car park at the side of the hotel and we were allowed to stay until 2pm after checking out, which was helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting the Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays outlet shopping, and the Spinnaker Tower and it is only a short walk to Old Portsmouth. The train, IOW ferry terminal and buses are opposite the hotel. There was daily room service. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Penelope

The hotel was perfectly situated for exploring Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The harbour boat tour was fantastic and we enjoyed walking about the harbour. There is a free pass to walk about and go in the pier building 4 if you don’t want to spend a full day going through each ship and museum. Breakfast as great each morning of our two day stay.
